The Best Food Trucks in Waikiki
Don’t spend all your vacation fund on touristy restaurants in Hawaii – try the best food trucks in Waikiki! I’ve narrowed them down to the most popular tourist area on the island to help you find the best option for you. But don’t worry there is a North Shore & Kaneohe/Kailua list soon too!
The food in Hawaii in general is so pricey because everything is imported. I’m looking at you $14 dollar small container of grapes. So while buying a ton of food at the grocery store might save you a little bit of money it might not be worth it when you realize all the yummy local food you could be enjoying!
What to Wear in Waikiki
My Favorite Food Trucks in Waikiki
HI Shack
Located on the corner of Kalākaua and Niu St there is a little food truck parking lot with a variety of different cuisines. There is Caribbean, Thai, fresh pressed juices, shawarma, & more! We absolutely love the Philly Cheesesteak and fries from HI Shack. It is enough for us to share, which is always a plus with Hawaii prices!
Pit Stop Tacos Burgers & Sliders
Located on Lauula St between Seaside & Royal Hawaiian Ave right beside Poke Fix. If you want a good burger you have to try the sliders at Pit Stop. This slider is more like a cross between a slider and a burger its medium size so accompanied with fries it is the perfect meal! This food truck also has yummy drinks like flavored lemonade & horchata. Don’t forget to try their fried Oreos or special of the day. We went yesterday and their special was blackened mahi-mahi tacos for $7! You cannot beat that in town.
Hula Dog
Located on the corner of Kapuni St & Kūhiō Ave. This food truck is quite popular and dare I say touristy, but with good reason. These hot dogs are so unique. There are a variety of flavors, sauces and options to choose from. First you pick your bread (try the purple taro!). The type of dog (you can choose veggie or polish sausage) and then your sauce, relish (the pineapple is *chefs kiss*), finally finish off with a mustard (try the lilikoi!!). You will have yourself a flavor explosion!
Five Star Poke
Located on the corner of Kapuni St. & Kūhiō Ave. I literally shake my head every time I see a huge line across the street at Maguro’s poke and Five Star Poke is just chillin. I’ve had both and in my honest opinion Five Star Poke is WAY better and you get more for your money. They have amazing sauces and yummy toppings. There is a great sitting area with picnic tables for you to enjoy your poke right there.
