Cinnamon Apple Hot Toddy Recipe
Shield yourself! The flu is striking hard and fast! This week my parents came down with a bug. I always want to be that loving daughter to take care of them – it’s the least I could do after they have done it for 24 years now! :] But I seem to find myself holding my breath while I walk in to the room and not going farther than the doorway. I luckily (and surprisingly) have not caught it… yet. But in the event that I do, I have a delicious hot toddy recipe that I know will perk me right up!
My hubby has been infusing is own whiskey with cinnamon apples. He is a great bartender and decided to give infused whiskey a try – and boy, am I glad he did! This whiskey is so flavorful – with some spice from the cinnamon and sweet from the apple. We decided to experiment with the whiskey a couple of days ago for my dad, who was coming down with a flu-like sickness, and create a Cinnamon Apple Hot Toddy. I recreated the recipe with store bought items so that everyone could try the deliciousness! Be sure to give it a try when you start coming down with the funk or just when you want a soothing drink!
Ingredients:
2 ounces whisky
2-3 tablespoons honey
1/2 lemon
1 cups apple cider
1 earl grey tea bags
1 Tbsp sugar + 1 Tbsp cinnamon combined
Directions:
In a small pan over medium-low heat, heat the cider, cinnamon and sugar, honey, and whisky until hot. Continually stir to dissolve the honey. Once the honey is dissolved remove from the heat and add in the tea bags to seep. Remove the tea bags and squeeze in the juice of half a lemon. Keep it cute! Garnish the glass with the cinnamon sticks and some lemon slices cut into slices.
