The High Line in NYC

I came across the NYC High Line while searching online for free things to do in New York City. Now, while this is free – it wasn’t the reason I was interested in going. This peaked my interest because it is actually a public park that has been repurposed from a freight railway. I love when cities do what they can with what they have. It is so smart and charming!

The High Line runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues. I wasn’t sure what to expect going in the Winter – but it was not disappointing. Although the grass wasn’t as green as it would be in the warmer months it was still beautiful and had views of the city and water that are completely worth it. There is a variety of colors and textures as well as art along the way. You can tell that the High Line is a special part of this city. it is so cared for by the community Friend of the High Line. You can support the High Line by becoming a member and donating funds to keep it clean, beautiful and welcoming to everyone. You’ll have to check out the Chelsea Market – it is not too far from the High Line! Grab some great hand-iced cookies from Eleni’s New York or some awesome spices on your way through!
