New York City Travel Guide: Wafels & Dinges
Next Stop on my New York City Travel Guide: A sweet snack – Wafels & Dinges!!
So, I am sometimes really stubborn and I really love to do special things for my hubby. He LOVES waffles so when I found out about Wafel & Dinges in New York City I was ecstatic to surprise him with a trip to enjoy a specialty waffle! Well, I couldn’t find the Wafel & Dinges food truck. I led him ALL over Manhattan just for this yummy dessert. We, of course, were starving which didn’t make our seemingly endless search any better. I really wanted to surprise him so I didn’t want to tell him where we were going so he could help guide us there, but I was so lost. We walked for about 2 hours. I was trying to track the bus on Facebook and helplessly going in to stores asking about it.
I am not the BEST with directions, but I am also a seriously unlucky person. It ended up we turned down the wrong street RIGHT before the Wafel & Dinges stand. Whoops! :] The stand is not hard to find at all and I am actually pretty embarrassed we missed it completely in the first place. BUT are we glad we didn’t give up and found it!!
I am all about splurging for a treat when on a trip. Vacation is about enjoying yourself – not overindulging – but treat yourself here and there! Don’t miss out on a special eat because you wanted to save a couple of bucks. We arrived to the Wafels & Dinges stand and drooled over which what we would order. There are so many decadent choices that are literally mouth-watering! It was a really tough decision, but I ended up going with the s’more wafel and Caleb decided on the Elvis. I was honestly surprised he didn’t go for the ice cream sandwich wafel!
My S’mores wafel came with marshmallows, sprinkles graham cracker, rich chocolate drizzle and some Spekuloos spread dusted with powdered sugar. If you haven’t had Spekuloos spread it is basically cookie butter from Trader Joe’s. SO AMAZING. Caleb’s Elvis wafel come with peanut butter, bacon, banana and a honey syrup dusted with powdered sugar. These are almost too pretty to eat – almost. We devoured this delicious dessert. The wafel was cooked so perfectly and actually pretty dense! We definitely couldn’t have ate a second wafel in one sitting. But we will be back for sure!
Stop by Wafel & Dinges if you are craving something sweet and savory. This will completely satisfy your sweet tooth! One of the best desserts in Manhattan if you ask us!
