VLOG: 24 Hours in Waco, Texas
Waco, Texas has been put on the map by HGTV’s Fixer Upper. People flock to Magnolia Market from all over the country to visit Joanna Gaines’ country chic store so I hopped in the car with my mom and aunt to see what it was all about! Waco is only about 3 hours from Houston so we decided to take a girls trip and head to Magnolia Market & Spice village.
Magnolia Market’s bakery Silos Baking Co. is now open. We stopped in for a snack before shopping our hearts out in the shop. I opted for an almond croissant and I HIGHLY recommend it. By the time we got there the line was out the door, but surprisingly the line went by so fast! There is a cute little cafe-style outdoor patio area beside the bakery to sit and eat your goodies. We went during the summer so it was H-O-T. They had misting machines all around to keep everyone cool. It is a nice gesture, but I happen to hate those things unless I’m at an amusement park in workout clothes ready for it. I ended up with flat, wet hair and makeup running down my face. Not cute. :P But I guess it did keep us cool-ish in the Texas heat!
After Magnolia Market, we headed to the corner of 2nd Street and Franklin Ave in Downtown Waco to Spice Village. Spice Village is a collection of shops all under one roof. There are so many vendor shops from cute clothing to home decor and beauty products. To be honest, I loved Spice Village more than Magnolia Market. The prices range, but are much more affordable in comparison to Magnolia Market. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Fixer Upper’s style, but there is no way I will ever pay $55 for a galvanized bucket to put flowers in. :)
We stayed the weekend in Waco, but if we are being realistic Spice Village and Magnolia Market are the only two places that tickled my fancy. We went to the Dr. Pepper Museum, which was interesting, but it seems it hasn’t been updated since the early 90’s. You could take a tour around Baylor University, but personally, I didn’t go to that school I don’t really feel the need to visit it – but it looked beautiful!
